Capezzana - Carmignano Riserva Trefiano 2013 (90+ TSW)
Blend of 80% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Canaiolo.
The wines of Tenuta di Capezzana have received many awards and prove their maturity potential time and again, as hundreds of bottles of each vintage have been stored for decades.
This Carmignano DOCG born in 1979 from an idea of Vittorio Contini Bonacossi is produced in small quantities from the two vineyards that surround the sixteenth-century villa of Trefiano. Around the villa, a few hectares of vineyards with excellent characteristics and a fortunate exposure allow the production of a particularly elegant and velvety Carmignano: it is Trefiano DOCG, obtained with a blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet and Canaiolo.
Seven days of alcoholic fermentation in steel followed by further 13 days maceration in contact with the peels at 26°C. The wine making is managed in steel, while the aging is developed in used 350-litre tonneaux for 18 months after spontaneous fermentation.
In the glass an intense ruby red color with garnet reflections.
On the nose medium+ aromas of dark cherries, red currants and dried herbs with hints of spices, violets, tobacco, new leather and cedar.
On the palate dry, medium++ bodied with medium+ acidity and medium+ tannins. Round and full in the mouth, well balanced with flavours that are a recall of the nose. Long and persistent finish with rich spcy fruits, spices and tobacco. A long time ahead but already drinking well.
To pair with pasta with meat sauce, tagliatelle ai funghi, hard cheese, fillet with green pepper, cannelloni, florentina steak or roast meat.
