Cantine Fina - Grillo Kebrilla 2018 IGP Terre Siciliane (88 TSW)
This is the perfect wine for the hot summer days that are coming. A small part of this white wine (20%) touched the barrel during fermentation and maturing.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright golden yellow color.
On the medium+ nose aromas of mandarins, pineapple and nuts with hints of white blossom and vanilla.
On the palate dry, medium+ bodied with flavours of peach, lime, grapefruit and apricot with touches of cedar. Nice acidity and freshness. Nice long finish.
An ideal companion to mussels, cold fish dishes, cheese, pasta, fresh fruits and snacks.
The Cantine Fina, a 20-hectare family-run winery, is very proud of its origins. Traditions are upheld and maintained. Thus, a large part of the vineyards with indigenous grape varieties such as the grape Grillo, but also planted with the red grape Nero d'Avola.
In the cellar a lot of different wooden barrels are used, so that in the end a balanced wine completes the work. However, not only the expansion in wooden barrels to the strengths of Fina, but also the experimenting with cement tanks, one of the older wine production methods.
In practical terms, there are only a few enthusiasts left who are keeping this old method alive. In addition to these traditional methods, Cantine Fina uses state-of-the-art cellar technology to know how to get the most out of a wine.
