Cantina LaVis - Sauvignon Blanc 2019 (87 TSW)
Yes. Finally weekend!
It was quite busy at work this week and so what could be better then starting the weekend with a nice fresh starter and a snack. Taco chips and dip sauce. One of my guilty pleasures. I can easily eat a whole bag in one go. Do you also have such a guilty pleasure?
Back to the wine. This refreshing Sauvignon Blanc comes from the Trentino region. The province of Trentino is the southern half of the composite Alpine region of Trentino – Alto Adige (North Italy). The grape can take a long time to ripen due to the cool nights. This is excellent for building up fine aromas and preserving the acids in the grape.
The grapes are manual harvested in the third week of September with gentle pressing and static decantation of the must. Fermentation at controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. Aged 10% in oak barrels, maturation on lees for about 4/5 months before bottling.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright citrus yellow color with greenish reflections.
On the medium(+) nose aromas of gooseberries, citrus and peach with hints of elderflower, boxwood, fresh cut grass and white flowers.
On the palate dry, medium bodied with medium(+) acidity and nice freshness. Flavours are a recall of the nose with peach, green apple, passion fuit and some white pepper. Medium length finish. A very nice value wine - a bit in the NZ style.
Will be also great with goat chees, salads and herb dishes like pasta pesto or primavera, thai food, oysters and of course as an aperitif.
Available at @gallengallofficial for a price of € 9,29 so great value!!
