Cantina Kurtatsch - 600 Blanc de Blancs Pas Dosé 2014 (90 TSW)
A very fine sparkling wine from the Alto Adige region.
Hope to be back in September visiting the wine summit. Just for the pandemic I wanted to visit the new beautiful winery.
In 2014, the first "600" vintage was produced. The hand-picked Chardonnay grapes stem only from old vines. Geological and geographical conditions in the hamlet of Penon at 600 m a.s. Gentle pressing (55% yield), fermentation 80% in stainless steel, 20% in old barriques followed by ageing on the fine lees and batonnage, second fermentation in the bottle for 55 months.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright straw yellow color. Mousse is fine with a dense perlage.
On the medium nose aromas of yellow apple, pear, pineapple and some peach with hints of citrus, pastry and brioche.
On the palate dry, medium bodied with medium acidty and nice freshness. Light creamy and concentrated with flavours that are a recall of the nose. Nice long and persistent finish.
Suitable for lake fish, shellfish, vegetable dishes, salted meat and pasta.
