Podere Brizio - Brunello di Montalcino 2013
Pairing Suggestions
Podere Brizio - Brunello di Montalcino 2013 (89 TSW)
Give the wine a good decanter like the Vspin.
Tasted in zieher selection stemware
My notes:
In the glass a light transparent medium ruby red color with garnet reflections.
On the medium+ nose aromas of wild berries and dark cherries with hints of vanilla, spices, black tea, cedar, nutmeg and young leather.
On the palate medium bodied with medium+ acidity and medium+ tannins. Flavours are a recall of the nose. Still a bit closed. Full long finish. Needs some aging time. Lucky to have 5 more to retaste ????
Podre Brizio is located in the southern part of DOCG Brunello di Montalcino. Because it is a warmer part of the area the style of the winees is therefore rounder and fuller.
The Podre Brizio vineyards are ideally located on the southwest. The combination of (micro) climate, the ideal soil for Sangiovese, makes this one of the best parts of Montalcino. The vineyards are certified organic.
The grapes are picked by hand, destemmed and then fermented by means of the wild yeasts. Working with only wild yeasts, naturally present in the winery and on the grapes themselves, adds to the complexity of the wine. The wine then matures for 38 months in large (French) oak barrels. Followed by seven months of bottle aging before the wines are marketed.
