Campo alla Sughera - IGT Toscana Rosso 2013 (92 TSW)
In August I had a small trip to the Bolgheri - Tuscany region. Follow the link in my bio to read more about that short winevacation. On the picture you see the Super Tuscan of Campo alla Sughera. One of the wineries I visited during my short stay. On the blog you can find more about this great winery.
This Bolgheri Supertuscan is one of the best red wines from Campo Alla Sughera and is made from hand-picked Petit Verdot grapes and Cabernet Franc from the oldest vines. The soaking with the skin is long, much odor, taste and color of the grape is withdrawn. After fermentation, the wine matures 24 months in new (80%) and second-year casks of French oak and then the remaining 36 months in the bottle.
This wine is only produced in the best years!
My tasting notes:
In the glass a deep ruby red color.
On the medium+ nose aromas of blackberries, dark plums and cherries with well integrated hints of flowers, spices and liquorice.
On the palate dry, medium+ bodied with ripe tannins and medium acidity. Complex, warm and inviting flavours with recall of the nose with still strong wood and dark fruits which will integrate nicely over the years.
