Bodegas Fefin?anes - Albariño de Fefiñanes 2019 (90 TSW)
Today a very nice Albariño from Rías Baixas.
Bodegas del Palacio is located in Cambados, in the Val do Salnés sub-zone in Rias Baixas in Galicia. This beautiful coastal landscape is rich in history and culture. The domain has existed since 1904 and it takes its name from the square in Cambados, where it was founded. Enrique Mayer, jeweler and designer in Santiago de Compostela, picked up the age-old tradition of winemaking at the Palacio de Fefiñanes and designed the label in 1928.
In winter it rains a lot and in summer it is sunny and dry. There is an Atlantic maritime climate. The vineyards of this bodega are located directly on the sea, so the grapes are always exposed to the salty wind. This is very important for the freshness of the wine. The grapes come from 66 different family vineyards, each with their own character. The soil consists of granite and rocky mountains that are rich in salts and minerals.
About the wine:
After the grapes have been manually harvested, they are pressed and the juice goes into stainless steel barrels. This is where the alcoholic fermentation begins, after which the wine is bottled. He then rests in the cellars on his fine lie for another 6-8 months. This gives the wine an intense and fuller character.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright citrus yellow color.
On the medium nose aromas of peach, pineapple and lemon with hints of elderflower and almond.
On the palate dry, medium bodied with good acidity and freshness. Flavours of lemon, melon, grapefruit and apple with nice almond finish.
Great as Aperitif or to pair with oysters, crustaceans and shellfish and fish dishes.
