Bellavista - Grande Cuvée Alma Brut Franciacorta (89 TSW)
Bellavista was founded in 1977 by a wealthy industrialist from Brescia, Vittorio Moretti, who saw great potential in this wine region. Bellavista now has 117 hectares of its own vineyards, 108 of which are planted with the grapes chardonnay, pinot bianco and pinot nero, from which the sparkling wines are made.
The sparkling wine is made in the same way as a traditional Champagne. This means, among other things, the use of old wooden presses. 40% of the pressed juice is raised in oak barrels. The Spumante is not allowed to leave the cellar until it has spent at least three years on its bottle.
Winemaker Mattia Vezzola has the talent to realize Moretti's special ideas. He makes wines and Spumantes that excel in pure concentration, without sacrificing elegance.
About the wine:
88% Chardonnay , 11% Pinot Noir , 1% Pinot Blanc.
In the glass a bright citrus yellow color with greenisch reflections.
The mousse is fine with a medium intense bubble.
On the medium nose aromas of ripe white fruit like pear and apple and some almond with hints of white flowers, fennel, brioche, stonefruit and citrus.
On the palate good dry, medium bodied with nice elegance and freshness. Nice light almond aftertaste.
Drink it as an aperitif, with oysters and other crustaceans and shellfish and with salads or chicken dishes.
