Aurelio Settimo - Barolo Riserva Rocche dell'Annunziata 2009 (91 tsomw points)
Traditional, classic at its best, that is the style of Aurelio Settimo. Respect for tradition and history are very important here. As one of the first in the area, grandfather Settimo bottled the wines in the late 1950s under their own label, independent of the cooperative. In 1962 the choice of varied agriculture was shifted to mere viticulture and the house Aurelio Settimo was created.
Since then the house has grown in quality and size to the core of Barolo's La Morra and its Rocche dell'Annunziata. With 100% grapes from own vineyards and bottling on the domain, they choose for continuity and quality while maintaining tradition.
Tasting notes:
In the glass a dark red color with a dark core.
On the nose intense aromas of cherries, cranberries, rose petal with hints of soil and leather. Overall impression of a classic Barolo.
The vibrant palate displays classic Nebbiolo flavors of dark cherry, plums, cinnamon, truffle, tobacco, and licorice. Full-bodied red with strong intensity. The wine is balanced elegantly and has a nice and long finish. Top!
