Madonna Nera - Brunello di Montalcino 2012 (89 TSW points)
“Madonna Nera” is the ancient name of this hilly terrain. Today this place hosts a recently established vineyard inspired by deep respect for the traditions of this land. It's a small winery with small production. The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Madonna Nera is fermented in stainless steel and aged in French tonneaux for 36 months. Carlo Ferrini is the consulting enologist on this project. La Madonna's vineyards are just a stone's throw away from the Montalcino city limits.
My notes:
In the glass a pale ruby red color with garnet edges.
On the medium+ nose prunes, blackberries, dark cherries with well integrated hints of cedar and chocolate.
On the palate dry, medium+ bodied, with elegant and soft mouthfeel with nice freshness showing flavours of cherries, cedar, vanilla, coffee and leather with medium+ tannins. The tannins are not disturbing. The finish is medium+ and juicy. Now already very drinkable but can hold for 5/10 more years.
