Alois Lageder – Porer Pinot Grigio 2018 (89 TSW)
With the “Blend your own PORER” kit which I featured in my stories I will soon try to blend my own Porer Pinot Grigio.
This kit, consisting of three barrel samples, gives me the opportunity to create my own PORER Pinot Girgio and to find out the right kick of freshness.
Now talking about the real Porer Pinot Grigio.
This wine is all about the joy of experimenting and bringing different components together. One part of the grapes was pressed immediately after their arrival at the estate, another part was kept on the skins for 15 hours and the third part was in contact with stems and skins for about one year. They combined different components in order to create a fresh, lively and precise Pinot Grigio also in future.
My tasting notes:
When the wine gets some time and isn’t too cold the aromas will be more richer.
In the glass a bright straw yellow color with a light copper shimmer.
On the medium nose aromas of peach, melon and apple with hints of white blossom, spices and honey.
On the palate dry, medium+ bodied with nice freshness and medium acidity and nice minerality. Finishes with a small bitterness and spices. Very nice. ???????? To pair with starters, pates and terrines, cold meat, sea fish, shellfish, white meat and poultry.
