Allegrini - Palazzo della Torre 2015
Last week I visited Allegrini’s Villa Della Torre and some of their beautifull vineyards. A great experience and journey into the world of one of the most famous wine producers in Italy and all over the world. Allegrini - Palazzo della Torre is one of the wines that made the Allegrini family famous.
Palazzo della Torre is a blend, a historic combination of Rondinella and Corvino with a small addition of Sangiovese. Some of the grapes from Allegrini Palazzo della Torre are dried and combined with grapes that are processed immediately after the harvest. The result is a velvety, well balanced wine with beautiful ripe notes and fruit aromas.

Blend of 70% Corvina Veronese, 25% Rondinella and 5% Sangiovese
The ruby-red Palazzo della Torre immediately seduces with its nose full of forest fruit, laurel, cloves with hints of smoke, vanilla and a touch of minerality.
The spicy taste is also juicy with impressions of dried black fruit and ends in a pleasant bitterness. The mineral, spicy aftertaste continues to last for a very long time. Needs some time to open up and will even be better after some time in the cellar.
The wine is made using an innovative take on the 'ripasso' technique. Most of the grapes are vinified at harvest time, while the rest are set aside to partially dry. In January, the wine blended with the juice from the raisined grapes undergoes a second fermentation.
This wine is a deep ruby red and easily pairs with various Italian dishes, above all risottos, especially those flavoured with saffron, porcini mushrooms and pork; classic dishes such as pasta with Amatriciana and Carbonara sauces, baked lasagna, gnocchi with gorgonzola cheese and walnuts; grilled meats and roasts.
