AIX - Rose 2020
Pairing Suggestions
AIX - Rose 2020 (89/90 TSW)
This 2020 vintage is for me the best of the AIX rosé I have drunk so far. Really very enjoyable with the sunny weather and the blue sky.
Blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah and 20% Cinsault
My tasting notes:
In the glass a pale salmon pink color.
On the medium nose aromas of red berries, raspberries and peach with hints of grapefruit, spices, watermelon, anise, herbs and citrus tones.
On the palate dry, medium bodied with medium(+) acidity and nice freshness. Flavours of red currants, strawberries, peach, orangepeel with a nice lengthy and balanced fresh finish.
Pairing suggestions: Chicken or niçoise salad, salmon, feta, spinach, mint and quinoa tartelettes, duck, lamb served pink, veggie skewers on the barbecue, charcuterie and soft cheeses.
AIX is of course from the French Aix-en-Provence but is made by the Dutch Eric Kurver.
Eric says:
"Never before has our harvest started so early in the year. Climate change, together with the weather conditions last year, led to an early ripening of our grapes. All the grapes ripened beautifully, resulting in an excellent balance between "fraîcheur" and fruitiness. Our earliest, but possibly the best crop of our existence! " Said a happy Eric.
