Sun check
Blue sky check
Warm temperature check ?? Time to open this lovely #summerwine from the Provence region.
Perfect companion at the barbecue, with shellfish, vegetarian meals, poultry or just as an aperitif.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a very bright salmon color (almost inclined to the color of white wine)
On the medium nose aromas of raspberries, red berries and strawberries with hints of herbs, spices and anise.
On the palate dry, medium bodied with medium+ acidity and nice freshness. Flavours of strawberries, citrus, figs and orange with a medium length finish.
The 130-year-old Maison Saint Aix winery is located in the south of France, an hour north-east of Aix-en-Provence. to produce the fantastic AIX rose.
The origin of the AIX rose lies in the approximately 75 hectares of land on a plateau situated at 400 meters above sea level. With more than 300 Sundays a year and cool nights, the grapes can develop and ripen optimally. The exposure to the influences from the south-west and the Mistral ensure perfect protection of the grapes, which are dried by the wind after some rainfall. All in all, Maison Saint AIX has the best conditions to grow the Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and the Counoise grapes. These are the best grape varieties for a prominent rose from Provence.
Proper maintenance of the vineyards is crucial for the quality of the wines. Replanting was recently started, starting with four hectares of Grenache. Over the next few years, many acres will be replanted, mainly with Grenache and Syrah canes.
In addition, the new stainless steel tanks with a controlled temperature and the pneumatic presses have recently been put into use. This applies the latest techniques of wine making. This way, the quality of the AIX rose can be continuously monitored and improved.
