Oh… what a great reflections of my time in Alentejo and @malhadinhanova
When you are in South Portugal. Give them a visit. Such a magical place. ???????? The old Portuguese Roupeiro grape, from the Alentejo region, is suitable for a hot climate and has a lot of character. He gives fresh white wines with a mild aroma, which can be drunk the best young. Roupeiro rarely comes alone, usually with other grape varieties in the bottle.
The grape has a variety of names, depending on the region, ranging from siria, alvadourão, crato branco, malvasia grossa, códega, alva and dona branca. But the Alentejo name is the best known, as this is the region where Roupeiro is still the most planted white grape.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright citrus color with golden reflections.
On the medium+ nose aromas of citrus, white peach, flowers and herbs.
On the palate dry, medium+ bodied with good balance, nice richness and good freshness showing stone fruits and citrus and a long persistence finish.
Pairs perfect with pasta, pork, shellfish and other fish meals.
