Preferment and peeling for 24 hours. Alcoholic fermentation in barriques of French oak, after which the wine ripens for 3 months in barriques.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright straw yellow color with golden highlights.
On the medium+ nose aromas of green apple, nectarine, white flowers and some vanilla hints.
On the palate medium bodied, dry with nice round mouthfeel and fresness, medium acidity and a long and pleasant aftertaste.
About the winery.
San Marzano is located near the center of San Marzano di San Giuseppe, in Puglia, in the heart of the acclaimed DOP "Primitivo di Manduria". Here vines and olive trees are planted side by side on a red soil surface. The winery was founded in 1962 by 19 local wine growers, whose families had worked the land for generations. They decided to join forces to make quality wines that reflect the typical character of the region.
Over the years, this collaboration has grown considerably and San Marzano now consists of more than 1200 winemakers! Each of these vintners helps to produce the best grapes. The bottoms of the vineyard and the Mediterranean terroir play a fundamental role in the production of their wines, and these vintners also knew this. More than 50 years ago they planted the grape vines on plots with lots of rocks and slate. The vineyards extend over a long, narrow fire between the Adriatic and Ionian Sea. Summer heat, cold winters and the warm Sirocco wind ensure extreme conditions.
San Marzano is one of the most popular and famous wineries in Puglia. They are also the most modern and technically best-equipped winery in Puglia.
