Terramagna - 7 Seven Seas Cabernet Sauvignon 2014 (87 TSW)
My tasting notes:
In the glass a ruby red color
On the nose medium aromas of ripe cherries, plums and light hints of tobacco.
On the palate dry, medium bodied with soft and round mouthfeel. Very nice PQR.
Located 40 miles south of Madrid, the Castilla-La Mancha region lies in the heart of Spain. Amidst the region’s hot and arid climate, about half of Spain’s total vineyard acreage is grown. Here, the majority of wine production relies on the varieties Cencibel—a regional clone of Tempranillo—as well as Airén, a relatively neutral white grape that thrives in this barren region.
Recently, many new vineyards have been planted with a variety of local and international red grape varietals, particularly Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and Garnacha. While the prestigious DOs of Castilla-La Mancha have more stringent viticulture and winemaking restrictions than the lesser Vino de la Tierra designation, quality wines can certainly be found.
