Alto Moncayo - Veraton Garnacha 2013

Alto Moncayo - Veraton Garnacha 2013 (90 tsomw points)
The Australian superstar, winemaker Chris Ringland, who scores annually at Parker in Barossa Valley (Australia) with his own wine between 95 and 100/100, has also been gaining ground on European soil for several years now. In addition to his contribution to El Nido and Clio in Jumilla and La Atalaya in Almansa, he also vinified on Alto Moncayo in Campo de Borja.
The beautiful wines are based on old Grenache, a grape variety with which Ringland is familiar in South-Australia. Veraton in turn, from the same style as his big brothers Aquilon and Alto Moncayo, in a slightly more accessible version.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a deep cherry red color.
On the nose intense aromas of dark cherries, cranberries and hints of tobacco licorice, vanilla and laurel.
On the palate full-bodied, dry and a great interplay between the acidity and sweet tannins. Big mouth full of dark red fruit, spices and licorice. Elegant, balanced and a great long finish.
