Weingut Reinhard Topf - Grüner Veltliner Strasser Wechselberg - Kamptal DAC Reserve 2015 (88 tsomw points)
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright citrus yellow color.
On the nose delicate aromas of peach, apricot, lemon with hints of herbs and white pepper.
On the palate dry, medium+ acidity, good balance with a recall of the nose. Nice long aftertaste.
Food accompaniment for pork and game meat.
About the area:
Kamptal gets its name from the river Kamp that flows directly through it, and is home to Austria’s largest wineproducing town, Langenlois. With an area of 3,907 hectares under vines, Kamptal is one of the most successful wine regions in Austria, and boasts a great number of outstanding producers of top quality wines.
Kamptal benefits from the dynamic interaction of hot breezes from the Pannonian plain coming from the east with cooler air from the Waldviertel toward the northwest. This unique combination of warm days and cool nights gives rise to the finely delicate aromatics and naturally vibrant acidity characteristic of grapes grown in the region.
Wechselberg is one of the most sought-after locations that the wine-growing town Straß has to offer! Grüner Veltliner, Riesling and Pinot Blanc enjoy the best conditions in this location.
