Max Schell - Quantum Rosenthal Spätburgunder Trocken 2014
Pairing Suggestions
Max Schell – Quantum Rosenthal Spätburgunder Trocken 2014 (87 tsomw points)
Do you know the wines from the Ahr region? They are about 1 hour driving from Maastricht (The Netherlands) in Germany.
The Ahr-Weingut Max Schell is located in the northernmost wine-growing region of West Germany, with 559 hectares of wine area one of the smallest wine regions, but at the same time the largest closed red wine country in Germany.
An exceptional microclimate and well-thought-out slate weathering soils make deep red to blue-black vines full-bodied and tasty Ahr wines.
This very high quality unfiltered bottled Pinot Noir comes from the vineyard "Ahrweiler Rosenthal" and matured for 21 months in the new barrique. Final wine at the "German Red Wine Award 2015" by the wine magazine VINUM. The "flagship" of the winery Max Schell.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a dark red color with purple reflections.
On the nose intense aromas of dark red cherries, red berries, herbs, dried flowers and cedar notes.
On the palate medium bodied, dry with nice acidity showing flavours of cranberries, cherries, spices and blossom. Nice medium+ finish.
