Château Cantenac - Selection Madame Saint-Emilion Grand Cru 2014 (88 tsomw points)
Around 95% Merlot.
About the winery:
Since 1870, Château Cantenac has offered fine wines that express the heart of the terroir and its history. Around a charming 19th century manor house, rises up a beautiful vineyard, in the historic place known as "Cantenac". The Latin origin of this word means "charming, enchanting" place.
Nicole Roskam-Brunot & son (4th generation) continue the family passion for great wines. They bring out the best qualities of the vintages to express the terroir, combined with a use of sustainable and integrated vine growing methods.
My tasting notes:
In the glass this madame wears a dark ruby red color with garnet edges.
On the nose delicate aromas of red berries, cherries and blackberries with nice integrated hints of cedar, toasted vanilla, tobacco and liquorice.
On the palate dry, medium+ bodied and well balanced with a recall of the nose. The tannins are well integrated with nice mouthfeel. A moderate length finish.
