Loredan Gasparini – Manzoni Bianco Marca Trevigiana 2016 (87 tsomw points)
Reflections of my summer vacation. Sipping wine at the beach. What else?
Besides very high quality Prosecco and the Bordeaux-like "Capo di Stato" I already reviewed with 91 points Giancarlo and Lorenzo make a nice white wine from Manzoni grapes. This typical Venetian grape variety was cultivated by Professor Luigi Manzoni in the 1930s. He managed to cross Riesling and Pinot Bianco grapes together. Because of this, the Manzoni grape has the freshness and minerality of Riesling in combination with the mildness of Pinot Bianco.
In the glass a medium + yellow color.
On the nose intense aromas of ripe peaches, barrique, yellow apple and light hint of toast, flowers and banana.
On the palate dry, medium+ bodied with nice round and soft mouthfeel. In the long pleasant aftertaste, the sweet, sour and almond hints exchange each other.
This interesting white wine can be perfectly served with a classic appetizer such as Parma ham with melon, ceviche of mackerel or spicy dishes from Asian cuisine.
