Château Sainte Marguerite - Cuvée Fantastique 2017
Cru classé - AOP Côtes de Provence
Looks like summer is back in the Netherlands. This weekend we will measure temperatures around 27 C. So… you know! It’s rosé time.
About the winery:
Château Saint Marguerite is a vineyard located in the coastal village of La Londe Les Maures in the Var department. It is one of the eighteen classified Côtes-de-Provence A.O.P. Cru Classé from the region. Located between Toulon and Saint Tropez, this seaside resort is endowed with exceptional climatic conditions and a good soil for the production of fine, subtle, authentic wines.
The house was founded in 1929 by Mr. André Chevillon, the title of Cru Classé followed in 1955. Today the Fayard family owns the domain. Quality is the main motivation and you will undoubtedly notice this in their absolute top wines. The wines of Sainte Marguerite are sold in 29 countries worldwide and are regularly honored at international competitions and in the trade press.
Vineyard: Silicious clay, structured with pebbles and broken quartz
Cold skin maceration before pressing.
Vinification thermoregulated. Selection of the best vats.
Aging in vats on fine lees.
My tasting notes:
Lovely bio blend of Grenache and Cinsault.
In the glass a light salmon Provence dress.
On the nose delicate aromas of peach, raspberries, with hints of citrus and wild flowers.
On the palate, dry with nice balance and acidity. Very fresh with peach and citrus notes. Long and persistence finish.
