Triebaumer – Blaufränkisch 2015 (87 tsomw points)
Günter and Regina Triebaumer have after many wanderings around the world of wine established in Rust, Burgenland. The country where they were born and their families have been active in the viticulture for generations. They made wine in South Africa and gained experience. The region Burgenland is mainly known for the red and dessert wines. Together they have responsibility for the 25 hectares of vineyards that they cultivate with great respect for nature, grape and terroir.
They never worked with herbicides or insecticides. In fact, for years they have been closely involved in the project "no sex for butterflies". A project that uses insects to combat other harmful insects. The wine is not certified organic, but all conditions are respected. No animal products are used throughout the vinification, so that the wines fit into a vegan diet ????
The vineyards are located in the north and north-west of the Rust district. The soils mainly consist of loam, loess and loamy lime. These soil types are ideal for white grapes, but also for Blaufränkisch.
My tasting notes:
In the glass a medium red color.
On the nose aromas of dark red cherries, black and blueberries with hints of herbs, earth and green pepper.
On the palate “easy going” with nice round mouthfeel but with enough power. Flavours of cherries, blackberries and vanilla. Very nice red for these autumn days coming.
