The "Good of the Cranes" with the eponymous luxury holiday resort covers a total area of 700 hectares. One-tenth of it is planted with vines. Cattle, merino sheep, goats and black-footed pigs graze on the extensive grounds. Fruit and olive oil as well as horse breeding are also part of the business, which is managed according to the rules of organic farming.
The German owner family has entrusted the viticulture Luís Duarte, a respected oenologist of Alentejo. Before working on Herdade dos Grous, Duarte worked for some years as a consultant for Monte Dos Cabaços.
About the wine:
This wine has had a ripening period of 6 months in new French and Hungarian oak. After vinification in oak barrels, this wine is matured with batonage and 'sur lie' for another 6 months.
In the glass an bright lemon yellow color with green reflections.
On the nose intense aromas of white flowers, citrus and honeyed melon with hints of vanilla and brioche.
On the palate medium+ bodied, rich mouthfeel (light waxy) but with a nice spicy acidity. Flavours of pineapple, passionfruit, ripe pear and buttercandy, The medium finish shows a nice freshness.
