A wine from Zeeland – The Netherlands. Besides South Limburg there are also other regions in the Netherlands producing some very good quality wines. This one is a good example from the Zeeland region. The Island Schouwen Duivenland exactly. The winery is located about 1.5 km’s from the North sea coast.
There are currently 42.000 vines planned. The vineyard has grown to 10 ha and is therefore one of the largest vineyards in the Netherlands. The basement and the test domain are housed in the barn of the Wijnhoeve. When it is time for the harvest, De Kleine Schorre works with volunteers to pick the grapes. The grapes are processed with the utmost care in the cellar on the site.
About the grape.
Auxerrois blanc is a white French grape variety crossed from the pinot and heunisch weiss. The name Auxerrois is also used for the blue grape variety Côt or Malbec with which this grape must not be confused. The name auxerrois probably comes from the French county of Auxerre.
In the glass a bright yellow color with greenish rim.
On the nose delicate aromas of green apple, citrus fruit and pear with hints of blossom and salinity.
On the palate fresh and lively with medium+ acidity and little sweet hint, nice freshness (light waxy) showing flavours of citrus, mandarin and white peach with a little twinkle on the tongue.
