Javier Sanz Verdejo 2017 (89 tsomw points)
Lovely Verdejo from Rueda region
My tasting notes:
In the glass a bright citrus color with light green reflections.
On the nose delicate aromas of citrus, pineapple, pear and hints like anise and fresh grass.
On the palate dry, medium-bodied with flavours of peach and apricot with hints of white pepper and refreshing acidity. Long refreshing finish. Perfect for drinking at any time.
Any other notes:
The Verdejo grapes with which this wine is made come from our oldest vineyards in La Seca. They are the result of the most personal selection of Javier Sanz. It is about 45 hectares of more than 40 years old. The soil in which these vineyards are located consists of a surface of pebbles and a subsoil of clay, factors that give the wine a mineral touch.
The climate is continental with very cold winters, rain in spring and autumn and summer with very high daytime temperatures and drops up to 20ºC during the night. Because of this marked continental character, the grapes maintain their acidity and the aromatic compounds that develop during the day.
