Höpler - Pinot Noir 2015 (87 tsomw points)
Hoepler is an Austrian, family owned, winery located south east of Vienna in Burgenland.
Their vineyards lie in the Leithaberg Hills on the shores of Lake Neusiedl. This unique location enables us to produce a wide range of wines; from traditional Austrian whites and reds such as Grüner Veltliner and Blaufränkisch, to classic Burgundy varieties including Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay. Their largest vineyard Kirchberg was originally planted by the Cistercian monks from Cluny in 1203.
Their focus is to continually make high quality wines, which are excellent value for money and this message is reaffirmed by the numerous international awards they achieved. About 70 percent of their production is exported to countries including USA, UK, The Netherlands, the Baltics and Scandinavia.
Tasting notes:
In the glass a ruby red color with light copper rim.
On the nose ripe cherries and strawberries with hints of forest floor, oak and thym.
On the palate dry, well balanced with nice softness in the round mouthfeel tasting flavours of cherries, blackberries and well integrated pepper, chocolate and earthy tones. Medium acidity with nice freshness and soft tannins. Nice long aftertaste with herbs and dark red fruit.
A wine with an excellent price, quality. Customers from Holland will find this wine at @sligro
