Miraval - Côtes de Provence Rosé 2017 (88 tsomw points)
2017 was a difficult year with 30% less yield but a harvest of high quality.
At Miraval, a beautiful wine estate in Provence, Famille Perrin and Brad Pitt produce wines already score high in wine critics for years. Miraval lies near the village of Correns, about 75 kilometers east of Aix-en-Provence, and has a history dating back to the thirteenth century, when monks made wine here.
The conditions at Miraval are perfect for viticulture. The vineyards have well draining soils which consist of a mixture of clay and limestone. And even though you're here in the hot, dry south of France, the climate around Miraval is relatively cool. The vineyards, laid out in narrow terraces against the slopes, lie at 350 meters altitude. As a result, the vines benefit from the sunlight during the day and at night the cool air that flows into the valley. This difference in day and night temperature promotes the development of acids and aromas in the grapes.
Importer of the Miraval wine in Holland is Wijnkoperij De Gouden Ton.
