Weingut Schwedhelm - Riesling Schwarzer Herrgott Grosse lage 2016 (89 tsomw points)
Brothers Stephan - 35 years, winemaker and certified oenologist - and Georg - 28 years,
took over the family winery in 2006 and manage together 17 hectares of vineyards.
Weingut Schwedhelm is located in Zellertal in the north Pfalz just south-west of Worms close to Rheinhessen. Here the bottom consists of limestone which gives refreshment to wines and a slightly salty undertone. The Schwarzer Herrgott is the top vineyard of Schwedhelm, the flagship! High level and suitable for years away.
Tasting notes:
Still too young but I was very curious about this wine. Some time in the Decanter will do good.
In the glass a golden yellow color.
On the nose delicate aromas of peach, mango and apricot with hints of herbs and spices.
On the palate dry, good structure and light oily with round mouthfeel and nice acidity showing flavours of apricot, peach and exotic fruits with nice minerality and a long persistence finish. Already a very interesting wine!
