Le Nez Français Classique Blanc (89 tsomw points)
27 degrees in the South of the Netherlands. Exceptional good fort he time of the year so we enjoy the long evening eating outside with friends and family. Today I choose a great wine that fits perfect with the baked fish with lemon cream sauce.
The wine is a blend of Grenache Blanc/Gris, Maccabeu, Marsanne, Roussanne and Chenin Blanc.
The grapes come from a large diversity of terroirs in Roussillon and Malepère (Languedoc region). The wine matured in concrete eggs and a variety of 228l and 500l barrels on the lees. Before blending, only the best barrels are selected and then aged for 1 month on a big vat before bottling the wine.
The history of le Nez starts with the makers José Galante and Vincent Chansault. José Galante was born and raised in Mendoza and led the Catena Zapata Group for more than thirty years. With over 40 years of experience, José Galante is the father of modern wine production in Argentina. In 2010, José went to work as head of winemaker at Bodegas Salentein.
Now he creates the beautiful wines of Le Nez, combining the passion of new world wines with the expertise of the old world. Together with the leading French winemaker Vincent Chansault they make an assortment of three different types of wine that stand out and challenge the traditional wine expectations and deliver exceptional quality.
Winereview:
In the glass the blend shows a beautiful bright golden yellow color.
On the nose delicate aromas of apricot, tropical fruits with well integrated wood, spices, honey and vanilla.
On the palate dry, rich and full-bodied showing different layers and nice complexity. The wine has a light creamy acidity but with enough freshness showing tropical fruits, honey and vanilla. The finish is long and elegant.
A wine with a top price, quality, rate.
