Cuvèe Zero Metodo Classico Extra Brut
After returning from a week Catalunya (soon some reviews) I plopped this nice sparkling from Piedmont region. I think this was the first time for me to taste a 100% Nebbiolo Sparkling.
Cascina Chicco has been making wines in the Roero for three generations, since founder Ernesto Faccenda planted vineyards of nebbiolo and barbera in the 1950s.
In the 1980s, Enrico’s son Federico modernized the winery, and today, he and his sons Enrico and Marco work together to produce wines of high quality.
They expanded production by selecting land that best expresses the unique characteristics of native grape varieties, and now their vineyards extend from Roero to Barolo territory.
The grapes of this sparkling are gently pressed in cold temperatures after the harvest, after which is the first fermentation that serves to exalt the vine variety's characteristics. After 6-8 months aging in steel, they bottle the wines for the second fermentation. At this stage, the perlage develops while under a constant temperature of 14°C, zero dosage.

In the glass a bright straw yelllow color with a greenish rim showing a small bubble with fine perlage.
On the nose delicate aromas of yellow fruit, citrus with very light breadcrust and hazelnuts.
On the palate very refreshing with a light creamy palate showing flavours of ripe yellow apple, citrus and pear. High minerality and nice acidity with medium aftertaste.
Great aperitif wine or companion with fish, vegetables, and white meat courses.
