Great white blend from Trentino. Variety of Pinot Blanco, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc.
Maso Cantanghel - SotSas 2014 (89 tsomw points)
In the glass a deep yellow color.
On the nose intense aromas of stonefruit, citrus, blossom, honey and vanilla.
On the palate good structure and complexity, light creamy with excellent acidity and minerality which give enough freshness to the wine. Nice long and full aftertaste.
Winemaker notes:
The SotSàs cuvée literally “under the stone” is the synthesis of three terroir and three varieties that are part of Maso Cantanghel: Pinot Bianco grows in Serso (Pergine Valsugana – 650 m a.s.l.), Chardonnay of Vigna Caselle (Cembra – 450 m a.s.l.) and Sauvignon Blanc of Vigna Cantanghel (Civezzano – 500 m a.s.l.). This wine owes its name to the cliffs beneath which lie the vineyards. The noble blend of MasoCantanghel gives himself with elegant aromas, complexity and structure, cream andsoftness, which can be appreciated even after several years of aging.
Three soils and three terroirs that enhance the mineral notes of this wine and they are image of the mountain and genuine viticulture of Trentino. The soils are partlysandy with the presence of quartz (Serso), chalky (Vigna Cantanghel) and volcanic(Vigna Caselle).
The average age of vines, grown on the guyot system, is around 15 years.
The harvest is done entirely by hand in cases in the second half of September when the grapes are perfectly ripe.
After crushing and desteming, the grapes macerate for few hours in the press. Subsequently the grapes are pressed softly. The fermentation take place in oak barrels. The wine matures on the yeasts of fermentation till summer.
