Syrah Duca Lorenzo 2015
This red one paired great with the antipasti
Silvestri – Syrah Duca Lorenzo 2015 (83 tsomw points)
In the glass a dark ruby red color with purple hues.
In the nose cherries, blackberries, violets and chocolate with spicy hints.
On the palate soft in the mouth, solid, well structured, finishing with hints of leather and chocolate.
Vineyards: Grapes come from vineyards in the comune of Aprilia, part of the comunes of Cisterna and Latina, and the province of Rome.
Grape Varieties: Syrah 100%.
Winemaking Technique: Grapes are picked by hand, pressed and de-stemmed before they macerate on the skins for 7 - 8 days at about 25° C. The must from the first-pressing ferments in stainless steel vats, then ages in barrels of Slavonian oak. After bottling, the wine continues to age for a further 5 - 6 months before going on sale.
Advice from the winemaker: A wine with ageing potential. Allow to breathe before ser ving by carefully decanting into a carafe. Serve at 18° C.
Foodpairing: A perfect accompaniment for savoury pasta dishes, such as pappardelle in hare sauce, for roast or barbecued meats, and for mature cheeses.
