Cantine Matrone - Lacryma Christi Bianco 2014
Pairing Suggestions
Lacryma Christi Bianco 2014 - 80 points. This is the first vintage of this white blend containing the Caprettone (80%), Falanghina (15%) and Greco (5%) grapes produced at the Vesuvio region. In the glass a clear straw/golden color. In the nose aromas of citrus, white fruit, flowers, light smoky. On the palate good depth and body with a light almond in the aftertaste.?
Grapes: Caprettone grapes (80%), Falanghina (15%) and Greek (5%).
The caprettone is distributed on three vineyards located at 30 - 120 - 200 meters s.l.m. while falanghina and greek have only grown 30 meters s.l.m ..
Some of the grapes are vinified in blends, or different varieties fermented together, with immediate pressing and fermentation in the absence of marc, while part of the Caprettone is vinified alone with maceration of 48 hours in the presence of the marc and subsequent soft pressing of the same with fermentation without temperature control, this methodology helps to obtain a wine with a slightly more intense color and a bouquet of scents that are more related to the variety of the grapes and not the fruity or floral notes due to the fermentation.
