Sietze is a wine enthusiast who facilitates informative and entertaining tasting events around Europe.
Boasting a master in Sensory Science, Sietze’s area of expertise is flavor perception and aroma chemistry. Using his unique method of serving wines with added molecular compounds, the guests to his wine tasting explore their sensitivity to these aromatic compounds and learn about their natural origins in wine. His mission is to have wine tasters develop a common understanding of wine descriptors such as eucalyptus, pyrazines, cork taint, and volatile acidity.
Sietze has previously worked in England for a producer of flavor chemicals. He is now based in Groningen, the Netherlands. Sietze is a student for the level 4 Diploma of the Wine & Spirit Education Trust. He enjoys beer too and is an Advanced Cicerone®️ - a Cicerone is the beer-equivalent of a sommelier.
In his spare time, Sietze plays the guitar and practices rock climbing. His interest in taste is not limited to food and drinks – he will welcome a good conversation about your taste in music, art, or clothing with open arms!
